Upgrade guide of OpenLM Version 1.5.4 to Version 1.5.5 |
OpenLM version 1.5.5 features major changes in the database structure and because of that we recommend our customers to perform a preliminary upgrade test before actually performing the upgrade on your production system.
The level of the preliminary check depends on the organization's requirements. If the requirement is to provide a 24/7 service then a full check is recommended that includes an installation of a test system and a full upgrade and testing of the test system. If a possible down time is acceptable then a short DB upgrade test may be sufficient. OpenLM customers are welcomed to contact our support team and consult us about upgrade issues.
Since there are many changes in the database structure, the upgrade procedure may take some time to run, depending on you database size. In testings we did here the whole procedure took less then 5 minutes with a 170 MB Firebird database (OpenLM Embedded database). Faster execution times were achieved with Oracle or MS SQL Server. |

What is new in version 1.5.5 of OpenLM? |
New EasyAdmin interface - The EasyAdmin flash interface that has been with us for the last three years will be replaced with an advanced, lightning fast DHTML (HTML+JavaScript) interface. The new interface is much faster, provides more functionality and is suitable for sites with unlimited number of license servers and licenses. The existing interface will be still available in version 1.5.5.
Better Active Directory integration - OpenLM integration with Active Directory is much tighter. OpenLM Server is able to synchronize users and groups with Active Directory in order to allow a faster users query. It can also automatically maintain Users and Groups for billing purposes. The Groups synchronization functionality is part of the Users and Groups extension and an additional licensing is required in order to use this functionality (Contact sales@openlm.com for more information).
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 - Are fully supported by OpenLM server or agent software.
OpenLM Broker replaces OpenLM Log Reader - We extended the functionality of OpenLM Log Reader and decided to call it: OpenLM Broker. |

OpenLM version 1.5.4 features major improvements including support for Groups and Project, FLEXlm Billing, and more.
The upgrade process from version 1.5.3 is simple but for sites that accumulated significant data we recommend a preliminary upgrade test in order to make sure that the database upgrade process will succeed on the production installation.
There are two different procedures. One for installations that use the embedded Firebird database and another one for installations that use external database (Oracle, MS SQL Server or Firebird Server).
The software can be downloaded from our downloads area. |

Version 1.5.3 of OpenLM for ESRI ArcGIS makes ESRI ArcGIS floating licenses even more efficient |
OpenLM for ESRI ArcGIS now better handles ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Extensions licenses and by that provides even better floating licenses usability.
Eliachin, Israel - 18/05/2009 - OpenLM announces that the ESRI Desktop floating licenses capabilities of OpenLM for ESRI ArcGIS has been extended in order to allow better usability of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Extensions licenses. The new functionality overcomes a built-in disadvantage in the way ArcGIS Desktop software handles extensions. The default behavior is that when a user loads an extension it will never unloads until the user actively does that. With the new release of OpenLM for ESRI ArcGIS all licensed extensions can be unloaded on session shutdown, assuring that extensions are only be consumed when they are really needed. |
