Install OpenLM Agent – GPO

1. Creating a ‘Transform’ file with Orca

  • Download the latest version of “OpenLM Agent”.
  • Download and install the latest Orca editor tool.
  • Right-click the OpenLM Agent MSI file and select “Edit with Orca“.
  • Click “Transform” –> “New Transform“.
  • Click on “Properties“.
  • Right click on the screen and select “Add Row“.
  • Add new property values, taken from installation parameters (section 1D)
  • Click “Transform“, and select “Generate Transform“.
  • Enter name and click “Save“.

2. Create a distribution point

  • Log-on to a central server as an Administrator user.
  • Create a shared network folder and place the MSI installer there.
  • Set permissions and allow access to the distribution package.

3. Create a Group Policy Object

  • Click “Start” –> “Programs” –> “Administrative Tools” –> “Active Directory Users and Computers“.
  • Right-click your domain name.
  • Select the “Group Policy” tab and click “New“.
  • Give the policy a name.
  • click “Properties“–> “Security“.
  • Check the Apply Group Policy checkbox only for the groups to which the policy will be applied.
  • Select the desired groups under “Group Policy“.
  • Click “OK“.

4. Assign MSI package

  • Click “Start” –> “Programs” –> “Administrative Tools” –> “Active Directory Users and Computers“.
  • Right-click your domain name.
  • Group Policy” –> Click “Edit” on the desired object.
  • Expand “Software Settings“.
  • Right-click “Software Installation” –> “New”  –> “Package“.
  • Type the full UNC path of the shared package.
  • Click “Open” –> “Assigned” –> “OK
  • Close “Group Policy”  –> “OK
  • Assigned package will be installed automatically on workstation startup.
  • Continue with configuring OpenLM Agent functionalities.
  • Or, continue with Configuring OpenLM Extensions.

Please make sure you have a single OpenLM Server installation on a central network server.
