License Allocations

Overview

Use License Allocations to track and analyze license allocations in your organization. The report shows when a license server allocated (granted) a license to a user — one row per allocation, with its start and end time — giving you an overview of the allocation and consumption of your named licenses. It helps you understand who was allocated which license, when, and for how long.

Finding this in the app

Open the OpenLM Platform app launcher (grid icon, top-right) and select Licenses and Features → License Allocations.

License Allocations help with:

  • Auditing and compliance
  • Troubleshooting and user support
  • Historical usage tracking
note

Allocation records depend on the license manager reporting license grants — not all vendors provide this data. Ended allocations are retained for a limited period and then purged automatically. For session-level check-out history across all license types, see Usage → License Activity.

The app has a single Allocations view: a searchable, filterable table of allocation records.

The Allocations report listing license allocations with server, vendor, feature, user, and allocation start and end columns The Allocations report — one row per license allocation.

General filters

Select the filter toggle button to reveal filter dropdowns in the column headers, then refine the data:

  • Server Name: Filter by license server
  • Vendor Name: Filter by software publisher
  • Feature Name / Product Name: Filter by specific tool or module
  • License Type: Filter by the license models in your data, for example floating or named user

Turning the filter toggle off clears the selected filters.

Next to the date picker, the always-visible Include Obsolete checkbox (selected by default) controls whether allocations that have already ended appear — clear it to see only active allocations.

Time range filters

Use the Allocations Start/End Time filter to select:

  • Quick ranges (last 7, 30, 60, 180, or 360 days)
  • Custom range for a specific date span using the calendar picker

Understand the allocation table

Each row shows a unique license allocation. Columns include:

  • Server Name: License server that granted the allocation
  • Vendor Name: Software publisher
  • Feature Name: License feature allocated
  • Product Name: The product the feature belongs to
  • License Type: Type of license allocated
  • Feature Version: Version of the licensed feature
  • User Name: User the license was allocated to
  • Allocation Start / Allocation End: Timestamps showing the allocation period — Allocation End stays empty while the allocation is active

You can sort the table by Allocation Start or Allocation End. If a license server is disabled, its open allocations receive an estimated end time; deleting a server removes its allocation records.

Use the search bar to highlight matching records. Use pagination controls to navigate large datasets.
