Install and Configure – Applications Manager
1. Install OpenLM Applications Manager
- Make sure you have a single OpenLM Server installation on a central network server.
- Download the latest version of “OpenLM Applications Manager”.
- Place the installation file on a central network server.
- Double click the downloaded installation file.
- Click “Next-Next” and approve the terms and conditions.
- Input your OpenLM Server hostname and port when promped.
- Select path and JRE when promped.
- Finish when finished installing.
- Install OpenLM Agent on the end-user workstations –> Input OpenLM Server hostname under the tab General –> Input the OpenLM Applications Manager’s hostname under the tab OpenLM Applications Manager.
- Click Apply and close the Agent configuration interface.
- install OpenLM Broker on the same server as the Applications Manager.
- Open up the OpenLM Broker Configuration tool –> Click Detect
- Under OpenLM Servers tab –> Click Add OpenLM Server –> Input the OpenLM Server’s hostname.
- Click Apply –> Click Restart Broker.
- Go to the server holding OpenLM Server –> search for the OpenLM Server tool –>Click Add.
- Type –> Select OpenLM Applications Manager from the drop-down.
- Description –> Input a descriptive name.
- Time Zone –> Select the time zone on the license server.
- Hostname –> Hostname of the server holding Application Manager.
- Port –> 27080 by default.
- Click Apply –> Close the tool.
2. Configure OpenLM Applications Manager
- Go to the server holding OpenLM Server –> OpenLM User Interface –> Click Start –> Select Administration–> Click on OpenLM Applicaitons Manager.
- Under Applications –> click Add –> Select Tracking Type (Process/File/Folder depending on the method you want to monitor the application by.)
- Applications Name – Descriptive name for the monitored application.
- Process Name – Input the process name of the application(Like “acad”, “java” etc.)
- File Path – Input the path to the executible file of the application(Like “C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe”)
- Folder Path – Input the path to the folder containing the application (Like “C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\”)
- Description – Full description of the application.
- Vendor – Input the name of vendor who published the application (Like adskflex, MLM, ESRI etc.)
- Version – Input the application’s version if required to differentiate between several versions.
- Parameters -Input application parameters in order to differentiate between several similar applications.
- Enabled – Enable monitoring of this application.
- Limit – Input the amount of application licenses you have for this (Optional).
- License Return Policy – Define which return policy you’d prefer to use for this application.
- License Consumption Policy – Define which consumption policy you’d prefer to use for this application.
- Click Save.
- Click Filter Vendors.
- Select a vendor in order to hide its floating license usage from the applications manager (only show named / node-locked / standalone licenses if required).
- Click Save.
- Click License consumption Rules –> click New Rule –>name the new rule.
- Click New Condition –> Input Argument –> Input Operation.
- Click the checkbox of the condition to select it.
- Change the Actions to allow or deny license checkouts according to that rule.
- (Optional) Double click on Allow or Deny –> fill in your custom script under Script –> Select Service under Run At.
- Click Save.
- Continue with configuring other OpenLM Extensions.
