Oracle Enterprise Manager

Follow these steps to configure OpenLM to monitor license usage and retrieve license statistics from Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Requirements

Before you query the license manager, install:

  1. OpenLM Server v2.x on a machine in your organization
  2. OpenLM Broker v23.8 or higher on the same machine as the Oracle Enterprise Manager

Using the Broker also allows buffered communication and allows remote start and stop of the license manager service.

OpenLM Broker must be installed and configured to report to OpenLM Server before proceeding.

Method 1 — Broker desktop UI

  1. Open the OpenLM Broker desktop application.

  2. Select Add Port.

  3. Enter the port number (for example, 888).

  4. From License Manager Type, select Oracle Enterprise Manager and select Apply.

  5. Go to the Commands node. In Update path for commands, browse to the folder where the Oracle Enterprise Manager SQL file is located in lmsettings and select Update.

  6. Under data_inquiry, select Execute and verify a valid output. Select Apply before running Execute again.
    The command will query:

    • Total number of registered licenses in the vendor license file
    • Number of licenses currently checked out by users

  7. In Vendors, enter Oracle as the vendor name and select Apply.

  8. Restart the Broker.

Method 2 — Broker web UI

  1. Open the Broker web UI at http://localhost:5090.
    If the default port is in use, try 5091 or 5092.

  2. Go to License ManagersAdd License Manager.

  3. Select Oracle Enterprise Manager from the drop-down list, enter the port number, and select Add.

  4. In Commands, set the Executable path to the folder containing the Oracle Enterprise Manager SQL file in lmsettings and select Execute.

  5. In Vendors, select Add Vendor, enter Oracle, and select Continue.

  6. Select Save.

OpenLM Server configuration

Once the Broker is configured, approve the license manager in EasyAdmin:

  1. Open EasyAdmin.
  2. In License Servers, find the row for the new Oracle Enterprise Manager entry (unapproved rows are highlighted red) and double-click it.
  3. Give it a descriptive name or leave the default, keep Type as OpenLM Generic, and select Approve.

If automatic configuration fails, configure manually:

  1. Go to Start → Administration → License Manager Servers.
  2. Select Add LM.
  3. Set Type to OpenLM Generic.
  4. Enter a description (for example, Oracle Enterprise Manager).
  5. Set the Time Zone to match the license server location.
  6. Enter the hostname and port from the Broker configuration.
  7. Leave Triad Configuration unchecked and Use Broker checked.
  8. Select Save.

Verify your configuration

  1. Open EasyAdmin.
  2. Go to Start → Widgets → License Servers.
  3. Ensure the Oracle Enterprise Manager entry shows a green circle icon.

It may take up to 3 minutes for the status to update after a new connection.
