Monitoring Materialise Magics with OpenLM #

This document explains how to integrate OpenLM with Materialise Magics to monitor license usage and generate license statistics.

Requirements #

To monitor the Materialise Magics license manager, install:

• OpenLM SLM or a Cloud account.
• OpenLM Broker v25.4 or higher on the same server running Materialise Magics.

Monitoring Capabilities #

OpenLM Broker provides the following monitoring features for Materialise Magics:The Broker component also enables buffered communication and allows remote start/stop of the license manager service.

OpenLM Broker Configuration #

OpenLM Broker collects license data locally via the Materialise Magics license manager, then forwards it to the OpenLM SLM.

Prerequisites: OpenLM Broker must already be installed on the same machine as Materialise Magics and configured to communicate with OpenLM SLM.

Broker configuration

To configure automatically:

1. Open the Broker, usually at localhost:5090. You can also generate a token to access it from another machine on the same network by accessing http://localhost:5090/api/new-token.
2. On the left side menu, select the License Managers tab. Click Add License Manager.
3. From the drop-down list, select Materialise Magics and set the port number (default 7010), then click ADD.
   
4. In the Executable path field, set or browse to the installation directory of the Materialise Magics .exe file is located.
5. Click SAVE.
6. To verify the configuration, click Execute.

8. Switch to the Vendors tab. Click Add Vendor. Type Materialise, and click Continue.
   
9. Click SAVE.

Proceed to “OpenLM SLM Configuration.”

OpenLM SLM Configuration #

If the previous steps are completed:

1. Open EasyAdmin (access via browser or Windows Start → OpenLM → OpenLM EasyAdmin User Interface).
2. In the License Managers window, click on “There are x servers pending approval”.
   
3. Click on the pen to open the editor for Materialise Magics. In the Display Name field, type in a name, for example, Materialise Magics.
   
4. In the Custom field tab, add details such ad country, usage scope and description.
   
5. Click Save.

Configuration is now complete.

Verify Your Configuration #

Confirm successful monitoring:

1. Open EasyAdmin.
2. Navigate to EasyAdmin Start → Widgets → License Servers.
3. Ensure Materialise Magics appears in the server list with a green status indicator.

Note: Status updates can take up to three minutes upon initial configuration.
