FAQ – How can I change the OpenLM Server log parameters ?

Overview

the OpenLM Server logging level may be set in the OpenLM Server Configuration tool, on the ‘Advanced’ tab.

The Location, Size and Logging level of the OpenLM Server log is controlled by the log4netConfig.xml file. This file can be modified with a standard text editor.

Steps:

1. Stop Your OpenLM Server Services

2. Make a backup copy of C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenLM\OpenLM Server\Server_Config\ log4netConfig.xml

3. Edit the log4netConfig.xml file

4. Modify the following lines to change the log location:

  • <file value=”C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenLM\OpenLM Server\Log\OpenLM_Server_Logger.txt” />
  • <file value=”C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenLM\OpenLM Server\Log\OpenLM_Broker_Logger.txt” />
  • <file value=”C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenLM\OpenLM Server\Log\OpenLM_Ldap_Logger.txt” />
  • <file value=”C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenLM\OpenLM Server\Log\OpenLM_LM_Logger.txt” />

5. Modify the following lines to change the number of log files, and each file’s size:

  • <maxSizeRollBackups value=”10″ />
  • <maximumFileSize value=”10MB” />

6. Modify the following lines to change the logging level: <level value=”ERROR” />

Available values are ‘ALL’ and ‘ERROR’.

7. Save the log4netConfig.xml file, and Restart the OpenLM server services.

Note:

Upgrading the OpenLM Server will overwrite the file, reverting back to the default parameters.
