A bit about the solution: What is CADMATIC
CADMATIC is a Finnish software company that builds 3D design and engineering tools for the shipbuilding and industrial plant industries, used by shipyards and plant operators in more than 60 countries.
OpenLM connects to your CADMATIC License Server through OpenLM Broker, giving engineering and IT teams a consolidated view of how CADMATIC licenses are used across hull design, plant modeling, and outfitting projects — alongside every other license manager in your environment.
CADMATIC is a Finnish software company that builds 3D design and engineering tools for the shipbuilding and industrial plant industries, used by shipyards and plant operators in more than 60 countries.
CADMATIC’s product suite — including CADMATIC Hull, Plant Modeller, Building, Draw, Electrical, and HVAC — is built around a shared 3D model, so design data stays connected across disciplines and project phases.
License access is controlled by the CADMATIC License Server, a Windows service that supports both floating (network) and standalone seats, and includes the ability to borrow a license for offline use.
In a shipyard or plant design project, hull design, piping, electrical, and outfitting teams often draw from the same shared pool of floating CADMATIC seats — not unlike departments sharing a pool of vehicles from a single motor pool. Without a consolidated view of who is checking licenses in and out, and when, it’s hard to tell whether a shortage is a real capacity problem or just a seat that’s been checked out and forgotten.
OpenLM monitors your CADMATIC License Server through OpenLM Broker. Once a data inquiry is configured, OpenLM reports:
OpenLM Broker communicates with the CADMATIC License Server and reports the data above to OpenLM Server. That means CADMATIC sits alongside every other license manager in your OpenLM dashboard, instead of requiring a separate check on its own console.
Documentation in progress: OpenLM’s full, step-by-step configuration guide for CADMATIC is currently being finalized. See the CADMATIC documentation page for the latest. If you need to configure CADMATIC monitoring today, open a ticket from the OpenLM Customer Portal and reference that page.
Engineering IT teams typically aren’t managing CADMATIC in isolation — it’s one of several engineering license managers running alongside tools like FlexLM, DSLS, or Sentinel across the organization. OpenLM brings CADMATIC’s quantity, usage, username, and procurement data into the same platform used to track those other license managers, so there’s one place to look instead of many.
