OpenLM MCP Reporting Serve
Talk to your license data
The OpenLM MCP Reporting Server is available now, allowing you to query software usage, denials, and costs using plain English. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible AI assistants and start talking to your data.
Watch how a 10-second prompt in Claude identifies over $60,000 in unused license savings
Works with the AI tools you already pay for
The OpenLM MCP Reporting Server acts as a secure gateway, allowing your preferred AI assistant to instantly analyze data from 90+ supported engineering and specialty software license managers including Autodesk, MATLAB, ESRI, and SolidWorks.
Questions you can now answer in seconds
The MCP Reporting Server transforms your OpenLM Analytics environment into a conversational resource.
Objective | What you type | Result |
Reclaim licenses | “List AutoCAD users with zero activity in the last 90 days.” | A target list for immediate license harvesting. |
Audit compliance | “Are any users currently borrowing licenses beyond their limit?” | Real-time policy enforcement check. |
Budget planning | “What is our true cost-per-active-user across the engineering tool stack?” | Accurate data for department chargebacks. |
You can also manage the cost of the AI itself. For tracking project-based LLM expenses, see how to enable AI FinOps with real-time token attribution.
Secure, Enterprise-ready implementation
Access the MCP Reporting Server via regional production endpoints (US and EU) using OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Available now
This capability is included in your current OpenLM Platform subscription at no extra cost.

OpenLM Cloud Only
This feature currently supports OpenLM Cloud tenants.
Note for On-Premise Customers: Connection is supported via Desktop AI applications (like Claude Desktop), provided your data has been synchronized with an OpenLM Cloud environment.

AI Requirements
Requires a paid subscription to a supported AI assistant (e.g., Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus) to enable third-party connectors.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid AI subscription to use this?
Yes. To use the MCP (Model Context Protocol) with Claude or ChatGPT, you must have a paid account (e.g., Claude Pro/Team or ChatGPT Plus/Enterprise). The “Connectors” and “Apps” features are typically disabled on free AI tiers.
Is my data used to train public AI models?
No. The OpenLM MCP Reporting Server uses a secure, read-only bridge. Your data is processed to answer your specific queries but is not used by Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT) to train their global models.
Does this work for On-Premise installations?
Yes. However, because browser-based AI clients cannot access private local networks, on-premise users must use Desktop AI applications (such as Claude Desktop) to establish the connection.
How accurate are the AI responses?
While the MCP server fetches exact data from your database, AI models can occasionally misinterpret complex logic (approx. 3% margin of error). We recommend verifying any critical procurement or legal decisions against the primary OpenLM BI dashboards.
Is there an extra cost from OpenLM?
No. The MCP Reporting Server is currently included as a standard capability of the OpenLM Platform. You only need an active OpenLM account and a compatible AI subscription.
Can I perform actions, like killing a process, through the chat?
Currently, the server is optimized for reporting and analysis. While the protocol supports actions, the primary focus is on transforming license telemetry into conversational insights.
