As OpenLM transitions to the next generation of license management—OpenLM Platform version Annapurna—you don’t need to abandon your existing setup to get started. You can run the legacy version and OpenLM Platform version Annapurna in parallel, which lets you explore the new platform without interrupting your current operations.
Here’s how to get started.

ToggleRegister for OpenLM Platform
First, sign up for OpenLM Platform. Once your environment is ready, you can start connecting components.
Generate authentication files
Use the Identity Service to generate the authentication files you’ll need to connect your agents and services to Annapurna. These files secure communication between your on-prem and cloud components.

Reuse your existing Brokers
There’s no need to reinstall the OpenLM Broker. You can connect your existing Brokers to Annapurna by:
- Connecting the Broker to Annapurna Cloud
- Approving the Broker in Brokers Hub
- Approving the license managers linked to the Broker
This makes it easy to test Annapurna without changing your current setup.
Download the components you need
Before you begin, make sure you have access to the latest installers: Download OpenLM components
This includes the Cloud Broker Agent, DSA, and more.
Install the version Annapurna DSA alongside the legacy one
You can install the Directory Synchronization Agent (DSA) for Annapurna even if you’re already using the legacy version. The DSA works with the Directory Synchronization Service (DSS) to retrieve sync definitions, collect user data, and send it back to Annapurna.
You can install it on any machine in your network. Keep in mind:
• For local directories (like LDAP), the machine must have network access to the directory
• For cloud directories (like Azure AD or Google Workspace), the machine must have internet access
Workstation Agent compatibility
We provide two Workstation Agents:
-
One designed for Annapurna
-
Another designed to run alongside the legacy version
Wrapping up
Running OpenLM legacy and Annapurna versions in parallel lets you explore the next generation of license management. You can test features, validate integrations, and plan your migration—all without affecting your production environment.
