Follow these steps to configure OpenLM to monitor license usage and retrieve license statistics.
Requirements #
Before you query the license manager, ensure you have:

OpenLM SLM v2.x or later installed on a machine in your organisation

OpenLM Broker v4.16 or later installed on the same machine as FVA-Workbench

A dedicated FVA-Workbench user account
Monitoring capabilities and features #
The current monitoring capabilities available for FVA-Workbench through the OpenLM Broker are as follows:

Additionally, using the Broker component enables buffered communication and allows for the remote start and stop of the license manager service.
OpenLM Broker configuration #

OpenLM Broker queries the license manager locally. Once this data is collected, it is sent to OpenLM SLM for processing.
Note that OpenLM Broker must already be installed and configured to report to OpenLM SLM before proceeding further.
Broker Configuration #

In the Broker web UI, click License Managers.

Click Add license manager.

In the Add license manager dialog, enter the FVA-Workbench LM port number.

From the LM type drop-down, select FVA.

Click Add.

- Select the Commands tab. Under the Data Inquiry, click the Execute to make sure the output is correct.
- Switch to the Vendors tab.Click Add Vendor→ Enter FVA-Workbench in the “Vendor Name” field then click CONTINUE. (Otherwise defaulted).
- Select the ADVANCED tab and input the FVA- Workbench login and password.
Another method is to navigate to C:\Program Files\OpenLM\OpenLM Broker\lmsettings\fva.properties and input the data manually. Make sure to restart the Broker Service in this case.
- Click SAVE.
OpenLM SLM configuration #
Automatic OpenLM SLM configuration through EasyAdmin User Interface
If you have followed the steps in the section above, OpenLM Broker should now be transmitting data to OpenLM Server. The final step is to approve the configuration in EasyAdmin User Interface:
- Navigate to the EasyAdmin User Interface Interface→Start→Wirdgets→License Manger – Servers.
- Click on the There are x servers pending approval.
- Double-click on the row with the Pending status. Note that the type for FVA-Workbench is displayed as OpenLM Generic:
- Verify the details: Host Name, Port and Time Zone then click APPROVE.
At this point, the FVA-Workbench has been automatically added to OpenLM SLM, and the configuration is complete.
How to verify your FVA-Workbench configuration #
To check if the FVA-Workbench License Server is being monitored correctly:
- Open the EasyAdmin User Interface.
- Click EasyAdmin Start → Widgets → License Manager – Servers. Verify that the configured license manager appears in the server list. A green circle node indicates an active connection to the license server.
Please note that sometimes it may take up to 3 minutes for the status indicator to change if this is a new connection.
